The 2nd Ibero-American Time and Schedules Forum extends in content and duration

The event is organized by DIPLOCAT and the Barcelona Time Use Initiative for a Healthy Society (BTUI)

After the success of the first edition, which took place in September 2022, DIPLOCAT and the Barcelona Time Use Initiative for a Healthy Society (BTUI) are now organizing the 2nd Ibero-American Time and Schedules Forum, which this year is expanding the number of sessions and extends over time. The Forum will host virtual, face-to-face and hybrid events between 6 and 30 June.

The aim of this 2nd Forum is to debate the ways in which the right to time can be included in Latin America's socio-economic and political agenda. To this end, good practices carried out in different places in the world, including Catalonia, will be presented. Over the course of the sessions, more than 60 experts from public, academic and civil society institutions will participate.

The opening of the Forum will be held by Laura Foraster, secretary general of DIPLOCAT, and Marta Junqué, co-coordinator of the BTUI, on Tuesday 6 June at 3pm (Barcelona time). The opening session, entitled From time poverty to the right to time, will be participated by Mercedes D'Alessandro, PhD in Economics from the University of Buenos Aires and former director of Economy, Equality and Gender at the Ministry of Economy of Argentina; Natalia Moreno, manager of the National System at the Vice-presidency of the Republic of Colombia; Ana María Tribín, specialist in public policies of the United Nations Development Program; and René Ramírez, researcher at the University Program for Studies on Democracy, Justice and Society at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. The opening event will be moderated by journalist Martina Rua.

The other sessions of the Forum will take place on the following dates:

  • 8 June: Temporities from Latin America (co-organized with the National Autonomous University of Mexico and the Time Studies Seminar).
  • 9 June: Crossroads on the uses of time (co-organized with the National Autonomous University of Mexico and the Time Studies Seminar).
  • 13 June: Right to time in order to sleep and rest better.
  • 15 June: Quality care time for people.
  • 16 June: Investigate and legislate new uses of time in Argentina (co-organized with the Buenos Aires Legislature and the Time and Experience Laboratory).
  • 20 June: The right to time, key to the resilience of cities.
  • 22 June: Right to time in metropolises: application in the Aburrá Valley (co-organized with the Metropolitan Area of ​​the Aburrá Valley and the Contigo Colombia corporation).
  • 27 June: Giving time to carers: reflections and experiences.
  • 29 and 30 June: Women Deliver Bogota (co-organized with the Mayor's Office of Bogota).

Several institutions collaborate with the 2nd Ibero-American Time and Schedules Forum, such as the Ibero-American Association of Time Banks, Barcelona City Council, the Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Sciences and Humanities (CEIICH), the Ibero-American Center for Strategic Urban Development (CIDEU), the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO), the Government of Catalonia and the World Network of Local and Regional Governments for Time Policies.

Most of the events of the Forum will be in Spanish. However, an international dialogue as part of the Time4All project will be held on 20 June.
