The artisan biscuit company El Rosal received last night the VIII DIPLOCAT Award for Catalan business projection in an event that took place at the International Convention Center in Barcelona and was attended by the president of the catalan government, Pere Aragonès, and the the mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboní, among other authorities. The award was handed during the 36th edition of the PIMES Awards organized by the Association of Micro-, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises of Catalonia (PIMEC), one of the 38 entities that are part of the DIPLOCAT consortium. The finalist companies, which also received a diploma, were Freshly Cosmetics, Can Bech, Soruka, Tèxtil Olius and Heura.
The secretary general of DIPLOCAT, Laura Foraster i Lloret, congratulated the awardees, emphasizing that the prize aims to recognize the role of companies in promoting the Catalan economy and its values around the world. The award recognizes those companies that help project Catalonia abroad with an image of country excellence, publicizing its assets and contributing to improving its international reputation. In previous editions, Aranow, Scytl, Moritz, Ultramagic, Beabloo, Munich and Yerse have been awarded.
El Rosal is a company founded in 1920 by Josep Serra in Tàrrega that is dedicated to the manufacture of artisan biscuits. Lluís Serra, son of the founder, continued the work until his retirement in 2001, when Associació Alba was offered the possibility to continue with the business. The entity then began a learning process to make cookies using the same century-old formula and relaunched the brand and the product from a new workshop with a team of 10 people. One of the objectives of the award has been to recognize the work of social integration done by El Rosal, as well as their efforts to reach the international market, especially Belgium.
