Opening of the fourth Barcelona Science and Technology Diplomacy Summer School
This edition returns to the face-to-face format
DIPLOCAT, together with SciTech DiploHub, IBEI, CIDOB, the Barcelona Supercomputing Center and the City Council of Barcelona have organized the 4th edition of the Barcelona Science and Technology Diplomacy Summer School to deal with issues related to scientific and technological diplomacy. The summer course started today and will end on 7 July. The inauguration was carried out by the director of IBEI, Jacint Jordana, the general director of SciTech DiploHub, Alexis Roig, and the secretary general of DIPLOCAT, Laura Foraster i Lloret.
In her speech, Foraster highlighted the return to face-to-face format after two online editions due to the pandemic. She also briefly presented the consortium and its functions, and thanked the collaboration with the other organizing entities, which allows efforts and synergies to be added. One of the objectives of DIPLOCAT is to promote training and knowledge, and it is in this context that a seminar like this must be understood.
As in previous editions, the activity is aimed at scientists, technology experts, diplomats and international relations professionals. On this occasion 35 people registered, many of whom have traveled to Barcelona from abroad. The speakers include experts who will discuss current issues in the field of science and technology and international relations, from technology diplomacy to climate diplomacy and global health diplomacy, with a special focus on Europe, the Mediterranean and the role of global cities.
