The regional conference of the European Youth Parliament meets in Barcelona
DIPLOCAT helped to the organisation of the meeting that took place over three days in the Catalan capital
DIPLOCAT has collaborated in the organisation of the regional conference of the European Youth Parliament, which took place in Barcelona between 15 and 17 March 2024. The EYP is a non-political and non-profit organization whose mission is to encourage young people to think critically and independently, and facilitate the learning of social and political skills.
The EYP organises regional conferences in which they simulate the functioning of the European Parliament. The working language is English. In those conferences, some participants are chosen to go to the state conferences and some end up attending final sessions gathering participants from all over Europe. Expert panels and training sessions are organised as part of the regional conferences. Jordi Arrufat, DIPLOCAT project manager, led one of the sessions and spoke about the necessary skills in international projection.
Arrufat also talked about DIPLOCAT and its activities, and how it uses soft power to make international promotion being a non-state actor. One of the practical examples he presented is the #BooksAndRoses campaign, which since 2015 spreads with collaborative spirit the activities related to the Catalan tradition of giving books and roses on 23 April.
