Participation in the Catalonia Abroad Council

First Plenary chaired by Catalan Foreign Action Minister Jaume Duch

Catalonia International took part today in the fourth meeting of the Catalonia Abroad Council, the first chaired by the Minister for the European Union and Foreign Action, Jaume Duch. Also taking part were the Director General of Catalonia Abroad, Oriol Lázaro, and the Secretary of European and Multilateral Affairs and Development Cooperation of the Catalan Government, Agustí Fernández de Losada.

Catalonia International has a seat in the Catalonia Abroad Council, an advisory and collegiate body that advises the Catalan Government on the policy to be carried out in the field of Catalan communities abroad. During the plenary, the conclusions that the different working committees have developed over the last year were presented. These committees are the following: Register of Catalans abroad; Model of support for Catalan communities abroad; Migration processes; and Education, language and youth.

At the end of the meeting, in his closing speech, Minister Duch highlighted the importance of the Council's committees having a work calendar throughout the year and for it to be more lively and interactive. The next plenary meeting is scheduled for the end of the year.
