Books and roses from Bermuda to Rio de Janeiro

Catalonia International promotes events related to the Day of Books and Roses around the world and invites 7 foreign journalists to Barcelona
The #BooksAndRoses campaign is an initiative of the Consortium Catalonia International initiated in 2015 to encourage and promote the organization of events related to the Catalan tradition of the Day of Books and Roses on 23 April. As of today, the campaign's website contains 142 events in 86 cities in 42 countries around the world. The counter will be automatically updated when new events are added to the agenda.
Events' organizers include the delegations of the Government of Catalonia abroad, the Catalan communities abroad, entities like the cultural Ramon Llull Institute, the Catalan Tourism Agency and the business agency Acció, and organizations and individuals without a clear link with Catalonia. This year, for example, there is a school on the island of Bermuda that has joined forces with the local bookstore in Hamilton to organize a book fair and a fundraising campaign inspired by the Catalan celebration of Sant Jordi.
Among the events organized by the delegations of the Catalan Government, the Day of the Book will be celebrated in Kensington, near Washington DC, there will be activities of Sant Jordi USA in New York, at Camden Market in London, and in bookstores in Mexico or Italy. There will also be events in Madrid and for the first time in many years, Sant Jordi will also be celebrated in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
On the other hand, Catalonia International invites foreign journalists to experience the atmosphere of the Day of Books and Roses in Barcelona. This year, journalists from Portugal, Croatia, United Kingdom, Latvia, Estonia, Austria and Japan have been invited. During their stay, they will meet with Catalan writers and editors, visit the Athenaeum of Barcelona and the bookstore Ona Llibres, and they will meet with the Catalan Minister of the EU and Foreign Action, Jaume Duch, the president of the Catalan PEN, Laura Huerga, the management team of the cultural Ramon Llull Institute, and the general director of Catalonia International, Laura Foraster i Lloret, among others. The program also includes a concert at the Palau de la Música Catalana and a FC Barcelona match at the Olympic Stadium.
