Visit to international Geneva

Organized by Catalonia International and the Delegation of the Government of Catalonia to Switzerland as a complement to a training course

Catalonia International and the Delegation of the Government of Catalonia to Switzerland have organized a field study visit to Geneva on 2 and 3 June to learn about the work carried out by international organizations in this city and explore collaboration opportunities. This activity was aimed at students of the third edition of the course "Action in international and European organisations", who are professionals from various Catalan public administrations and entities that are part of the Consortium.

In this way, Catalonia International encourages the implementation of the topics covered during the course through direct interaction with representatives of international institutions and Catalans who work there. Among the group of 29 people who travelled to Switzerland are workers from the Government of Catalonia, the Agency for Business Competitiveness ACCIÓ, Barcelona City Council, the Catalan Association of Municipalities, two universities (UAB and URV) and the entrepreneurs association Foment del Treball.

The program began with a meeting at the Catalan Government Delegation and some welcoming words by its head, Gabriel Boichat. The agenda included meetings with representatives of organizations such as the World Health Organization, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, UN Women and the Geneva Human Rights Platform. There were also visits to the World Intellectual Property Organization and Global Cities Hub, as well as a meeting with Catalans working in international organizations based in Geneva.

The course on "Action in international and European organisations", which will be held for the fourth time this year after the summer, is jointly organized by Catalonia International and the Barcelona Institute of International Studies (IBEI), in collaboration with the Catalan Ministry of European Union and Foreign Action and the Catalan School of Public Administration. The course, which is aimed exclusively at staff of public administrations in Catalonia and member entities of Catalonia International, is designed to train professionals who must interact with international bodies, representing and defending their own interests with competence, efficiency and flexibility.
