European Youth Parliament meets in Barcelona

Catalonia International collaborates in the organization of the meeting

Catalonia International has collaborated in the organization of the 2025 National Selection Conference of the European Youth Parliament (EYP), which took place from 9 to 15 July 2025 in Barcelona. The EYP is a non-political and non-profit organization whose mission is to encourage young people to have critical and independent thinking, and to facilitate their learning of social and political skills.

The EYP organizes regional conferences in which they simulate the functioning of the European Parliament. The working language is English. Regional conferences choose participants who go to national conferences, such as the one in Barcelona, and the finalists attend international sessions that bring together young people from all over Europe.

Expert panels and training sessions are organized within the framework of the regional and national conferences. Jordi Arrufat, project manager of Catalunya Internacional, led one of the sessions and spoke about how citizens can have an impact on the international sphere. In front of 120 European delegates, Arrufat explained the role of Catalonia International and how young people like them can become international actors, beyond activism and digital campaigns. Arrufat highlighted, among other options, the opportunity offered by Catalonia International's scholarships, as well as those from other organizations. The session ended with a group activity in which the delegates had to propose possible international campaigns and actions.
