A talk on the Catalan tradition of making human towers (castells in Catalan) took place in London last Friday, 19 September. The talk, organized by Catalonia International in collaboration with the Delegation of the Government of Catalonia in the United Kingdom and Ireland, took place in the Delegation's assembly hall, which was filled to capacity. Aimed at the local public, the talk was given by Martí Estruch Axmacher, Director of Communication and Press at Catalonia International, who spoke about the origins, historical evolution, structure, typology and significance of castells for Catalan society, as well as their international projection component.
At the end of the talk, the leader of the Castellers de London, Stephen "Cuss" Anderson, and the president of the Colla Joves Xiquets de Valls, Marc París, also intervened. Among the attendees were the first vice-president of the Parliament of Catalonia, Raquel Sans, and the mayor of Valls, Dolors Farré. The delegate of the Catalan Government, Francesc Claret, addressed a few words of welcome to the audience, while the Catalan Minister for the European Union and Foreign Action, Jaume Duch, was in charge of making the closing remarks.

On Saturday, the Castellers de London celebrated their tenth anniversary with a joint performance at Potters Fields Park with the Colla Joves Xiquets de Valls and the Mannekes of Brussels.
