Catalonia International invites 14 foreign journalists to learn about the Catalan research in agronomy and regenerative agriculture

It is the first international visitors programme that the Consortium dedicates to the scientific field

Since 2014, Catalonia International has invited a total of 230 foreign correspondents and journalists to get to know Catalonia better, as part of the international visitors programme. Last week, for the first time, the agenda of one of these visits was dedicated to the scientific field, and more specifically to agronomy and resilient regenerative agriculture in times of climate change. The adaptation of crops to adverse climatic conditions, the possibilities offered by the natural flow between species and crop genetics, and how sustainable forest management can help prevent massive fires are just some of the topics that were discussed.

Over three days, the 14 participating journalists visited the Centre for Research in Agrigenomics (CRAG), located at the UAB; the headquarters of the Institute for Agro-Food Research and Technology (IRTA) in Caldes de Montbui; the regenerative agriculture farm managed by the Centre for Ecological Research and Forestry Applications (CREAF) in Planeses (La Garrotxa); and the headquarters of the National Supercomputing Centre (BSC-CNS) in Barcelona. The journalists also met with the Catalan Minister for Research and Universities, Núria Montserrat Pulido, and attended a concert at the Gran Teatre del Liceu.

On this occasion, the correspondents and journalists who have participated in the programme work for media outlets in Germany, France, Italy, Great Britain, Belgium, Slovenia, Morocco, Croatia, Spain, Slovakia, Japan and South America.
