European Youth Parliament simulations

Catalonia International takes part in the organization for the third consecutive year

Catalonia International has once again joined the organization of the 2026 Regional Selection Conference of the European Youth Parliament (EYP), which took place from 19 to 22 February in Barcelona and from 26 February to 1 March in Sant Cugat del Vallès. The EYP is a non-partisan, non-profit organization whose mission is to encourage young people to develop critical and independent thinking, and to help them acquire social and political skills. The EYP organizes regional conferences that simulate the functioning of the European Parliament, such as those held in recent days at UPF in Barcelona and at the Casa de Cultura in Sant Cugat del Vallès. The working language is English. Chosen participants go on to attend national conferences, and the final selected participants take part in international sessions bringing together young people from across the European continent.

As part of the conferences, expert panels and training sessions are organized. Two of these were led by Jordi Arrufat, project manager at Catalonia International, who spoke about how citizens - and young people in particular - can have an impact on the international sphere. Before 90 delegates from across Europe, Arrufat explained the role of Catalonia Internacional and how one can play a relevant role internationally, beyond activism and digital campaigns. Among other opportunities, Arrufat highlighted the scholarships offered by Catalonia International, as well as those of other organizations, as a way to gain training in international affairs. The conferences concluded with an activity in which participants were required to develop proposals for campaigns with international impact.
